After leading up to the big reveal for several months, SEGA and RGG Studio have revealed the 7th entry in the long-running Ryu Ga Gotoku, or Yakuza as it’s known in the west. Ryu Ga Gotoku 7: The Whereabouts of Light and Darkness (Yakuza: Like a Dragon in the West) changes perspective from series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu to Ichiban Kasuga, the Dragon of the Depths. And for the first time in the mainline series, will be set outside of Kamurocho exclusively (at least so far) in the nearby port city of Yokohama. According to reports, Yokohama will be three times bigger than the play area in Kamurocho.

But the biggest change in Yakuza 7 will be the combat system. According to reports, the game will feature a turn-based combat system that is reminiscent of Persona and Dragon Quest which will be a huge departure from the brawler gameplay of the previous entries. Fans of the series are dumbfounded by this unexpected change to the gameplay and are taking sides already.
