Star Wars: Squadrons creative director, Ian S. Frazier, has announced on Twitter that the game has officially gone gold. A game going gold means that development of the main game is complete and the code is ready to be sent out for manufacturing i.e. printing to disc and being mass produced.

Star Wars: Squadrons is set right after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, where players will be witness to an epic battle between the rising New Republic force and the Galactic Empire and features a single player campaign that follows two pilots from either side of the conflict. The game promises to have a heavy focus around the multiplayer aspect with two modes – a 5v5 Dogfight PvP deathmatch, and a signature Fleet Battle mode with a multi-stage, objective based contest. Success will rely not only on speed and accuracy, but also on teamplay and strategy. The game will support VR on PC and PS4, with full crossplay between all three platforms from the get-go. It is available for pre-order on Steam and Origin for $39.99 | 2499 INR.

Star Wars: Squadrons launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 2, 2020. No next-generation versions have been announced yet. Check out our earlier report on the screenshots and system requirements of the game.
