UPDATE: This model has been proved to be from a fan-made model by Roberto Bouzas (kudos, it looks really good).
Prince of Persia is one of Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises. Quite a lot of people have grown up playing them, thoroughly enjoying the puzzles and platforming sections of the games – not to forget the intense boss fights which often required proper timing to execute attacks. People have been demanding a new sequel (or reboot) for quite some time, and it seems that Ubisoft might have listened to their feedback. According to a recent leak, a remake for Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is in development.
A leaked model for the prince has been doing the rounds on Reddit. The image hasn’t been edited and looks to be taken with a mobile phone because of the lack of visual clarity. It is understandable why Ubisoft would focus on the remaster of one of the more popular titles in the series – Sands of Time was unrivaled at launch in terms of its puzzles, being very well received with buyers. It has already been confirmed that Ubisoft has been working on a Prince of Persia VR game, but they have not announced anything about a remake.
Insider John Harker from ResetEra has already talked about how a remake of Sands of Time is in production, and this leak falls in line with his theory. Ubisoft has already hosted a special Prince of Persia event in For Honor, which lines up with all of these rumors. Maybe the event was to prepare people for an official announcement for the same? Only time will tell.
Like all rumors, this should be taken with a pinch of salt before an official announcement comes through.
