Elder Scroll 5: Skyrim was a huge success. If you can ignore the torrid time it had on the PS-3, Skyrim remained one of the most critically acclaimed and successful game of its year. This got a lot of people thinking, as to what would be the next step? Where can a franchise, which supposedly reached its glass ceiling go from here.

The answer is Elder Scrolls Online. The 6th entry into the franchise, would be going the MMORPG way, and that too on 6th April 2014.

Elder Scrolls Online, will go Live on 6th April 2014

The first open-ended multiplayer installment from The Elder Scrolls video game franchise. Return to Tamriel in The Elder Scrolls Online, and bring the legendary experience online for the first time. Explore the vast world with friends or embark upon an epic adventure alone — the choices you will make will shape your destiny.

  • The Elder Scrolls have always been great at character customization and we expect the Online installment to be as good if not better than its predecessors.
  • Actors such as John Cleese, Bill Nighy, Kate Beckinsale, Lynda Carter, Alfred Molina, Michael Gambon, Jennifer Hale, Malcom McDowell and Peter Stormare would be involved in voice acting for the game,
  • The unique Elder Scrolls gameplay of letting you decide and upgrade your fighting style will also return. Only now you would be able to do it in groups. Joining online guilds, or partnering up with a random dude in Tamriel, will create brand new dynamics, and allow for more versatile gameplay.
  • While players on PC and Mac play together, those on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 play only with others on the same platform
  • If you are still not excited enough. Elder Scrolls Online, won a total of 14 awards at E3 2013, including the most anticipated game of 2014, beating the likes of Witcher-3, Castlevania and Titanfall.

Remember Elder Scrolls Online comes out on 6th April 2014, and will be available for PC, the PS4 and the X-Box One.

  1. ESO have given us a different look of the game, after testing the press beta game over a week it took me a while to realize that this game is not a typical MMO and it strongly emphasizes on immersion. But in the end I was really satisfied and had a bast playing it. I know that the response of this game was decidedly mixed overall, but personally, I can say I’m a fan..

    1. Yes immersion is what Elder Scrolls have always emphasized. It seemed like a natural step for the franchise, to morph into a MMO, from its huge open world RPG. I am glad that you got a chance at the BETA, would love to hear more. I guess the play style is more or less the same.

  2. Very interested to see how this one plays out when it is released in April. I generally hear two sides from two very split camps on this one. One side saying Elder Scrolls should never have been made into a MMO and the other saying it was a natural step (in the right direction) because of the open worlds of the single player games. It seems like its been awhile since a really big title has been released in the MMO space. I’m really hoping this one succeeds and brings some new ideas/mechanics to the MMO genre.

    1. Same here Corbin, MMO have been the topic of discussions for a lot of conversations these days. So many of them closing down these days and yet so many opening up. As far as bringing new ideas are concerned, I am on the fence with that one. Elder Scrolls basically defined how a MMO should be apart from the fact that it never was. I can assure you that a lot of people will come to Elder Scrolls online, will the game be successful in retaining them, well that’s completely up to Elder Scrolls.

  3. The gaming world is huge and growing each year, the technology is also changing at a very fast rate and we need to keep up with the times.

That being said, it is also vital to understand how important gaming accessories such as the gaming chairs and glasses can help prevent back, neck and eye related problems, read more about it here: http://www.thebestgamingchairsreviews.com
