Ubisoft really wants you to play Assassin’s Creed. So much so, they have announced a brand new Assassin’s Creed bundle for the last generation console titled: Assassin’s Creed Americas Collection. The collection will contain Assassin’s Creed 3, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, and Assassin’s Creed 4: The Black Flag. Ubisoft has confirmed the release date of the Assassin’s Creed Americas Collection as 23rd October this year.
Assassin’s Creed 3, the first game in the collection; is also the first game in the Assassin’s Creed series which was based in America. The story follows Connor, a native American turned Assassin and his influence over the American war of Independence.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation started off as a PS Vita exclusive. Liberation features Aveline de Grandpre, an Assassin operating in Louisiana in 1765. This was the first time a playable female assassin was available to the player. The collection will include an HD remake of the game.
Lastly, the Americas Collection will include Assassin’s Creed 4: The Black Flag. AC4 follows the exploits of Edward Kenway, a Pirate of the Caribbean and an assassin to boot. AC4 was well received among the gaming community and was praised for it in-depth naval exploration and combat.
Ubisoft had earlier confessed that AC4 was the final game (for now) in their America saga, and they would be moving on to other historical settings with Assassin’s Creed Unity (for PS4 and Xbox One) and Assassin’s Creed Rogue (for PS3 and Xbox 360); so it kind of makes sense to have all 3 games bundled together in one package. But, considering the fact that both AC Unity and AC Rogue would be launching mid November, this year, you begin to think if Ubisoft is not going overboard with too much Assassin’s Creed.
I mean the Halo Anniversary Edition for the Xbox One was launched so newcomers can join and understand HALO, while long time fans would have something to chew until HALO 5 came along. It filled in a year without HALO. But the Assassin’s Creed America Edition doesn’t fulfill that need; instead it increases the Ubisoft release tally of AC titles to 3 in the same year. You know what they say of ‘too much’ and ‘anything’.
