With COVID-19 raging throughout the globe, major game releases have been delayed. Shifting to working from home from the office is a tedious job indeed, which resulted in a lot of unnecessary delays. Bigger titles like The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima have also faced delays. A leak from an Amazon listing had suggested that The Last of Us 2 was supposed to release in late June. Similarly, PlayStation Canada had suggested that Ghost of Tsushima was supposed to release in mid-July. It seems that the leaks have been true, as has been revealed by an official Sony press release.

The announcement in the press release reads “As we begin to see an ease in the global distribution environment, I am pleased to confirm that The Last of Us Part II will arrive on June 19. And Ghost of Tsushima will follow on July 17.” The press release also thanks Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions “on their achievements” for “finishing the game” under difficult circumstances. The press release also thanked the PlayStation community “for their continuous support and patience”.

Even during these troubled times, it is nice to see Sony is dedicated to getting games released. Video games are some of the getaways that people resort to in these troubled times as a form of escape from reality. New games are a pretty decent way to ensure people stay indoors, which in turn helps “flatten the curve”.
