Retail leaks are some of the least trustworthy of today’s leaks. That is because more often than not, retailers use a placeholder release date. However, quite a few of them have been accurate in the past – managing to pinpoint the exact release date accurately. With the COVID-19 crisis raging throughout the globe, people are desperate for good news (like this). As it happens, the release date of The Last of Us 2 might have been leaked by Amazon Italy.
A listing on Amazon Italy mentions the official release date for the game as 26th June 2020. An ammo capacity upgrade for Ellie’s pistol and a crafting training manual which unlocks new crafting recipes are also seen as preorder bonuses. It seems that Naughty Dog has also been affected by the COVID-19 situation – resulting in a delay for the game from Q1 2020 to Q2 2020. The Last of Us 2 had an original release date in February, which seems to have been pushed back to June (if the rumor is to be believed).
There hasn’t been any confirmation from Naughty Dog about the same – only that a delay for the game would be necessary to add extra polish. However, it seems that Naughty Dog does want to push for a release as fast as possible, as confirmed by vice president Neil Druckmann.
😳 This fan trailer is so damn good, had to come back to twitter to share. (We’re still working hard with Sony to get you the game as soon as possible.) Now returning to my social media cleanse. ❤️ https://t.co/ppnGvT7tES

Like all rumors, take this with a pinch of salt – maybe a little extra because it’s a retail leak – till a confirmation comes through.
