Now Sega isn’t the most consumer friendly company out there with a line of anti consumer acts in recent years, but credit where it’s due, Sega has done good with the release of Bayonetta for PC. Listening to public demand for the game and a nominal price of 20$ is purely a pro consumer move.

Gamers have been asking for Platinum games like- Vanquish, Bayonetta etc on PC for a long time now and sometime last year it was almost confirmed by Mr. Kamiya that Vanquish might get a PC port. A spokesperson at Platinum, in a recent interview with PC Gamer said that:

“if it were up to us, we’d port all of our games to PC, but it all depends on the publishers”

And the port is excellent. On my system, i5-6500 GTX 1070 4k, all settings to the right 60 fps is easy with some headroom still remaining and there are reports that the game runs well even on older hardware. I think Platinum has done a great job here in terms of porting the game.

Just talking a little bit on the opposite end of the spectrum, Gearbox’s bulletstorm has hit the ground. As per the Steam reviews, there are port issues and crashes apart from the fact that the game doesn’t look updated all that much. Plus the game is 50$ and wasn’t even in demand, unlike Bayonetta. The sales figures are not out yet, but considering that there are 1700 reviews for Bayonetta and 234 reviews for Bulletstorm, you can guess which sold more and why.

Shifting our gaze to Platinum Games, they have literally struck while the iron is hot. Nier Automata just launched last month to both critical and commercial success and is one of the best games I have ever played. It sold about 250k units on Steam (According to Steam spy), and the port was pretty decent, so you can imagine how people will be feeling about another game being released the same developer within a month. Bayonetta has currently sold about 71k units on Steam (According to SteamSpy), which is a great start. I am pretty sure it’ll sell a lot more in coming days considering it’s low price tag.

So what do you think about the re-release of Bayonetta on Steam? Were you looking forward to it? Let us know that and more in the comments below.
