Advanced Micro Devices (or AMD) has officially announced their new lineup of Polaris cards – the RX 5xx series. They have released a “trailer” announcing the first card of their 5xx line up – the RX 580!
The card is said to utilize an “enhanced” version of the Polaris architecture, and is supposed to be the “best for 1440p gaming” and for “immersive VR”, as suggested in the trailer.
The new RX 580 is said to be almost 1.8 times faster than the R9 380, and 1.5x times faster than the RX 480 (from the benchmarks shown in the video). The RX 580 is also supposed to be more power efficient and runs at noticeably lower temperatures than the previous range of GPUs.
