As is usual (and almost a tradition now), the next game in the action-adventure Assassin’s Creed series may have been leaked. According to French video game website JeuxVideo Live, they published an image of what appears to be a merchandise item for Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

As you can see above, the Assassin’s Creed-branded keychain has a Spartan helmet attached indicating that the franchise will be progressing to Greece for the next entry after Egypt.

Either this is real or a well-made fake. However, during its latest financial conference call, Ubisoft did mention that they have an unannounced game from an AAA franchise scheduled for this fiscal year (ending March 31st, 2019).

Additionally, Kotaku sources confirmed that the leak is indeed real and that “it’ll be even more of a drastic departure for the series than Origins”. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be bringing dialogue option for the first time in the series, plus, it’ll also have the option to play either as a male or female protagonist. Though the game won’t feature Bayek or Aya from the previous game in the series – Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

Well, it seems like Ubisoft is gearing up for another Assassin’s Creed, returning to their annualized scheduling of the franchise again, after skipping in 2016. More will be revealed at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference which starts at June 11 at 1pm PT / 9pm BST / 1:30am (June 12) live from Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles.

UPDATE: Ubisoft officially took to Twitter to announce that the next chapter in the Assassin’s Creed series will begin with Odyssey.

They haven’t share any specifics nor they confirmed a Greece setting, but as you can see in the tweet above, there’s a shot of perhaps a Spartan kicking someone off of a cliff. Which is somewhat a reference to the movie 300.

It seems like Ubisoft has to pull the trigger early following the game’s leak ahead of an official announcement, nevertheless, they assured more to be revealed this E3 during their press briefing.
