Dying Light 2 was one of the few game reveals from E3 2018 that legit managed to catch our attention. Balancing the newfound narrative elements (spearheaded by the legendary Chris Avellone), with the fluid gameplay from the first game sure seems to be the right direction for the series to move forward with.
GamingBolt recently sat down for an interview with Dying Light 2‘s lead designer, Tymon Smektala, who explained that stamina, which will be upgradeable, won’t be a factor during regular city traversal, making the exploration less restrictive. But smart stamina management will be mandatory to survive the game’s set piece moments and chase sequences.
“We had stamina in the first game, but it wasn’t used to that extent,” Smektala told GamingBolt. “Right now, if you want to just traverse the city you don’t really have to bother with this. Because we understand being able to traverse the city is a staple in Dying Light. But in places like [in the E3 demo], or during chases, the amount of stamina you have will be tested. So you’ll have to use the skills that don’t use that much stamina to avoid making any mistakes, but you’ll also be able to upgrade your stamina as you play the game.”
Dying Light 2 is due out on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime next year.
