Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the cult classic RPG that was the center of many-a controversies is getting remastered. Thanks to this leaked Microsoft store listing, we know that THQ Nordic and Kaiko (Darksiders remasters) is releasing the aptly titled Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning (THQ Nordic and their nomenclature habit!) on August 11. The remaster will feature improved visual fidelity and all DLCs.
The description on the store page reads;
“The hit RPG returns! From the minds of the bestselling author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston, comes Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. Remastered with stunning visuals and refined gameplay Re-Reckoning delivers intense, customizable RPG combat inside a sprawling game world.”
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was developed by 38 Studios and published by Electronic Arts in 2012. A few controversies and lawsuits later, 38 went bankrupt and EA had been sitting on the license for years before THQ Nordic snatched up the series rights in 2018. It seems like they also managed to strike a deal with EA regarding the publishing rights.
