Dark Light

John Romero is a legend among video game designers. Romero co-founded id Software and had a huge hand in the making of classic shooters such as Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Doom 2 and Quake.

John Romero has announced via Twitter that he is selling several personal copies of his games including Daikatana (a title we’d much rather forget about), Doom 64 (the remake of Doom on the Nintendo 64) and the Hexen expansion pack Deathkings of the Dark Citadel.

All three games were listed on eBay on June 19th and as of 8:00pm – the highest bid for Daikatana is $243.50, $174 for Doom 64 and $71.00 is being offered for Deathkings of the Dark CitadelThe winners of the auction has the option to have Romero sign the game.

In the past, Romero’s floppy disk copy of Doom II sold for $3,150 while his personal cop of the id Anthology sold for $1,130. It’ll come as no surprise if the big-boxed game collectors would soon snatch all three games for a hefty sum. Although the man has been keeping a low profile as of late, one cannot exclude his role in the creation of first person shooters.
