GTA V is definitely up there with Skyrim when it comes to modding capabilities and the community behind it, which is arguably one of the bigger reasons as to why people buy GTA these days on the PC platform. Modding on GTA 5 though has had it’s share of controversies though, the most prominent one being the bans hammered down by the cheat engine which thought that the graphic mods were actually hacks.

Just yesterday, Take Two ceased the functionality of OpenIV modding tool which has been met by severe backlash by the PC community dropping the user reviews to 23% out of 21,008 people. When Rockstar was approached by PC Gamer for answers, they had the following to say:

“Take-Two’s actions were not specifically targeting single player mods. Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody. We are working to figure out how we can continue to support the creative community without negatively impacting our players.”

Unfortunately, there is no response from take Two anywhere and being the publisher, they have full control over this matter. If it’s interfering with the online play, which is a huge source of monetary gain for the company, they will most likely re-allow it once they have fixed either the code of the game or if the modder does something similar.

    1. I would not call it butthurt, more like a retaliation. Steam tried paid mods which was wrong, people retaliated, you wouldn’t call the same people butthurt. Had it not been for those people, today we would have to pay for mods of Skyrim or any other game.
