2020’s GOTY contender Doom Eternal is readying up for the launch of its first campaign expansion – The Ancient Gods Part One. This violently delightful game developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks is the direct sequel to 2016’s reimagined Doom. After it was announced at QuakeCon, the trailer for the DLC was shown off at Gamescom 2020 and featured the story continuation of Doom Slayer’s foray into fixing the imbalance between heaven and hell. Your job: to kill more demons.
In this new expansion, you get an upgraded grappling hook which allows you to move sideways. There are a host of new demon enemies too and resurrected spirits.

The official blurb of the campaign story goes like this:
Bringing down the Khan Maykr left an imbalance of power that threatens all of creation. With the aid of an old ally, battle your way back to Urdak and decide the fate of the cosmos once more.
The Ancient Gods Part One is available for the Year One Season Pass owners of Doom Eternal (included in the Deluxe Edition of the game), but also as a standalone purchase which will give you access to the Battlemode, a 2v1 multiplayer where a pair of player-controlled demons (two Marauders?!) go head to head with another human Slayer armed with all weapons, mods and upgrades from the campaign.
Good news for all Playstation 4 and Xbox One console players – the game will get a free upgrade to the next console generation, after their launch. On the PC front, you can purchase Ancient Gods Part One from Steam or the Bethesda Launcher storefront.
