[UPDATE] In an official blogpost, Microsoft has confirmed that Doom Eternal is coming to Xbox Game Pass on October 1, and will arrive on Xbox Game Pass for PC some time later in 2020.

Doom Eternal on the Xbox Game Pass was inevitable! After Microsoft’s acquisition of Zenimax, and Phil Spencer’s promise of Bethesda’s franchises coming to the Xbox Game Pass, gamers were eagerly waiting for more details. It seems we won’t have to wait for long – in a recent tweet, Xbox Game Pass showed off a faux internal memo from ‘Melissa McGamepass‘ (a joke on Boaty McBoatface). The purported email talks about a redacted announcement that, when revealed, will make ‘everyone go crazy’!

Even though the tweet asks you to not look for hints, the internet banded together to decipher the secrets hidden in this innocuous message. If you choose the first letter of every sentence, you get ‘LOOK BELOW’. If you adjust the contrast and the brightness of the image, the original message is revealed in the glaring whitespace: THE SLAYER IS COMING. This is an obvious hint towards id Software’s 2020 hit Doom Eternal. Doom Eternal is a AAA FPS, where you as the Doom Slayer, wreak havoc on invading demonic forces.

Doom (2016) had come to Game Pass before, but had left in May 2020. At present, Fallout 76, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Dishonored 2 are available on the Xbox Game Pass and it is just a matter of time, when we have all the games under the Zenimax banner on it. The first DLC of Doom Eternal was The Ancient Gods Part One and released on October 20.
