The creators of the mind-bending television show Westworld are teaming up with Amazon Studios and Bethesda to make a television adaptation of the Fallout video game series.
Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy of Kilter Films, the genius minds behind Westworld, will be at the helm of the show along with Todd Howard, lead architect of Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, and James Altman, Director of Publishing Operations at Bethesda Softworks.

According to a Deadline report, Joy and Nolan both revealed themselves as fans of the Fallout game series and said “Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”
Howard was also effusive in his praise for the duo. He said, “Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen but it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios.”
Amazon Studios had signed a 5 year deal with Kilter Films last year to produce shows for its Prime Video streaming service. Kilter Films is currently deep in pre-production on the techno-thriller drama The Peripheral, a novel by William Gibson. Westworld also got picked up for a fourth season by HBO.
No details on the setting, timeline, story, and expected release date are available yet.
After HBO’s The Last Of Us, Showtime’s Halo, dj2’s Disco Elysium, and My Friend Pedro, this the fifth game with a television series currently in pre-production.
