The Assassin’s Creed franchise has received a lot of flaks over the course of its existence. Deteriorating quality is a chief concern among them and is commonly spoken about with relation to the annualisation of the franchise. Last year’s Origins did break that chain and was widely appreciated. However, the next game in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will be releasing this Ocotber, one year after the release of Origins.

If you’re worrying about Ubisoft getting back to annualising the franchise, then worry no longer. Dark Side of Gaming has reported that there won’t be a new full-fledged Assassin’s Creed game in 2019. Instead, Ubisoft will keep supporting Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

At GamesCom 2018, Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot said:

“On Assassin’s, we had a game and we have one this year, but we are not going to have a full-fledged Assassin’s next year. It’s just because the team were working separately, so we have two games now, one year after the other. But next year you’re not going to have a full-fledged one.”

Do note that he did say ‘full-fledged’ as in a main-line game in the series. Maybe they are waiting for next-generation consoles to arrive and will release spin-off tiltes in the meantime.
