The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil or ‘Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma’ released its second episode on 15th January 2024 on Crunchyroll.

In our review of the premiere and exploring the premise of the anime, we saw our two protagonists and arch nemeses, Masatora ‘Demon’ Akutsu and Lily ‘Angel’ Amane driven into an odd situation that kickstarts their relationship as frenemies.

The second episode’s name is ‘The Even More Foolish Angel and Demon’, which is rather apt. The foolish efforts to charm the frenemy and assert dominance by Amane and Akutsu, though adorable and perfectly functional, were undeniable. However, the episode had the perfect balance of exploring their backstories and personal agenda that made them partake in their respective missions, as well as making one giggle and be impressed with the hilarious analogy to portray the process of wooing each other, through a boxing match. Deadly blows by Akutsu and Amane when he lifted his sleeves to show off his veins, and Amane accidentally fell into his lap, made the episode especially entertaining.

From being chased by a policeman due to inappropriate behaviour in the park, to getting punished by the teacher for flirting in class, Akutsu and Amane reached a temporary truce to let each other off the hook, or perhaps secretly save themselves from being charmed by the other.

What will the two protagonists’ peacock dances lead to, you may wonder. Guess we’ll only get that answer on 22nd January 2024, when the third episode will roll into our Crunchyroll accounts.

Verdict

The second episode of The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil or ‘Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma’ had a great concept and use of analogies which one should watch first-hand, and had a well-rounded plot and pacing. This ‘Reverse Isekai’ might be more well-thought than one would originally expect it to be.
