So recently, we at 1HundredWorks were invited to exclusive Preview of South Park: The Stick Of truth. Considering South Park The Stick of Truth releases on 7th of March, this special preview was almost the finished product. Now we really couldn’t say no to such an offer, and soon there we were in Mumbai at e-Expressway office, playing the game and laughing our asses off.
Now I have been a fan of the original South Park series, since it started. So when I when I did go to play the game, I was perhaps a little biased. So to create a non-biased opinion, I rounded up a few of the other gamers there, and asked for them their views. Here is what they had to say.
South Park The Stick Of Truth: Previews
John:
An hour with South Park: The Stick of Truth and you definitely get the answer to why the TV series is so popular.
South Park is for the mature audience and the makers don’t try to make it anything different than what it is. There were times when I put my controller aside to laugh. It’s insane that the TV series has lasted 17 seasons. The game has made me inquisitive about the show too. Downloading of the 17 seasons will happen soon.
Ashwin:
South Park, the popular American TV series has run for 17 seasons. In spite of its tenure, the show is still funny as ever. The new upcoming game based on that series is sure to turn a few heads. South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone wrote the script for the game, overseeing the project, and providing the voices of the characters. We expected the new RPG to be humorous and it didn’t disappoint.
The game offers a lot of fan service. South Park fans will truly enjoy this one. As I mentioned earlier, it feels like you are witnessing the TV series, which can be controlled. The story moves along well.
Siddartha:
South Park: The Stick of Truth adds humour to a game with a good storyline and impressive graphics. A few hours of the game and you are really hooked onto it. Mark 7th March in your calendar, South Park: The Stick of Truth will be out for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The game is priced at Rs 999 for PC and Rs 2999 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
Ayush (your truly):
The South Park humor is apparent, as soon as it asks you choose a name for yourself. Even upon you trying to type out a name, the game will insist on calling you ‘Douche bag’. Visually its nothing great to look at, but then you really didn’t watch South Park for the spanning vistas. You watched the show for the humor, and you would play the game for the humor. Weapons such as Flaming Farts, a Jesus holding a machine gun and various other slapstick variations. I don’t know how much of it will go over the usually traditional Indian culture, but any existing fans of the series, will be missing out if they don’t get their hands on the game soon.
The Verdict:
Almost everyone who I met was excited for the game. Ever since THQ announced South Park at last year’s E3, the game has been highly anticipated. The subsequent shutting down of THQ and then the sale of the IP to Ubisoft have just added to the hype of the game.
Well the wait is finally over, as the game will be hitting the Indian markets on March 7th. The console version (PS3 and Xbox 360) will be priced at Rs.2999, while the PC version will be priced at Rs.999.
What do you make of South Park. Are you excited? are you on the fence? or do you just don’t care. Let us know in the comments.
