One of the members at ResetEra leaked tons of info about the upcoming hack ‘n slash from Capcom. Plenty of details were divulged, and without further ado, here’s the major ones:
- Stylized as Devil May Cry V, it’s a direct sequel to 2008’s Devil May Cry 4 (on PS3, Xbox 360 & PC).
- Development started about 2 years ago, around the time DMC4 Special Edition released.
- Sony funded part of the development so there’s likely some kind of PS4 exclusivity involved. (While not much is known about this exclusivity deal, we think it could likely end up being a timed exclusive).
- It will not be shown off at PSX (contrary to what previous rumors stated).
- The game will take some inspiration from Dragon’s Dogma – Capcom’s open world action RPG that released in 2012 – and even has members from the Dragon’s Dogma team working on it; however DMCV will not be an open world game.
- Three playable characters have been suggested, two which of which are likely Dante and Nero; third one may or may not be a new character and is supposedly “powerful”. As a side note, Nero is confirmed to be Vergil’s son.
- Story picks up after DMC4 and Trish will play an important role in the plot; Prince Of Darkness is the main antagonist (may or may not be Mundus).
- Some technical & gameplay aspects include: 60 FPS target, lock-on system, more open level design, no QTEs, online integration no stamina bar, reworked dodging system, improved boss fights and Style system for Dante (also reworked in some way).
