Overkill Software is no stranger when it comes to controversy regarding microtransactions. After all, the studio’s last outing Payday 2 had a lot in the way of microtransactions. We had similar concerns for their upcoming Walking Dead game but it looks like that will not be an issue anymore.

DSOG reported that there won’t be any microtransactions or cosmetics in Overkill’s The Walking Dead. This news was revealed by the developers themselves during their recent livestream.

As Overkill’s producer Saul Gascon stated:

“It’s not going to be… no microtransactions. You can find different skins for the characters by playing the game and you will unlock them right away. So if you see a cosmetic you’ll know that player really achieved something. It’s something special.”

Overkill’s The Walking Dead releases on November 6th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. A closed beta test will be held next month.
