OpTic Gaming had announced wishes to enter the Indian e-sports scene by making an all-Indian CSGO squad. The squad is to be nicknamed “OpTic India”, and will be playing under the official OpTic Gaming organization.
Nick “ashes” Ridgeway, Head of Player Support,OpTic Gaming says, “We are very excited to be working alongside the excellent teams at AFK Gaming and SoStronk for our expansion into India. At OpTic Gaming, we are passionate about growing and supporting exciting new regions, so India was a natural next step due to the support of so many Indian fans in both India and around the globe” .
The squad will be paid competitive salaries besides being provided with a state-of-the-art bootcamp facility along with access to OpTic Gaming’s large pool of international resources, including coaches and analysts to help them hone their skills.
Tryouts for the team will be organized 7th May onwards. The candidates will first undergo an extensive evaluation based on psychometric and theoretical tests in addition to role-based and in-game analysis. Shortlisted candidates will then be put through a practical evaluation where they will play multiple matches while being monitored by OpTic Gaming’s scouts and SoStronk’s coaches and analysts. This final stage of the selection process will be organized at LXG, Banglore on 12th and 13th May. The selection process will be led by Ali Saba, OpTic Gaming Scouting Director, with support from Prashant “Aequitas” Prabhakar and the SoStronk team.
Sostronk and AFK Gaming will be assisting OpTic Gaming in their venture into the Indian esports world.
This is the first time an international team has shown interest in investing resources for developing a team in the country for participation in local tournaments. This should mean more competition for the existing teams, as well as a morale booster for young talent in the country who want to play esports under a banner and be paid for it.
