Microsoft has delayed Crackdown 3 again, this time to an undetermined date in 2019, according to Kotaku sources. The game has been delayed twice since its official announcement at E3 2014. Initially planned for a November 2017 release, then got delayed to spring 2018 and now to 2019.
It is yet another blow to Microsoft’s already weak first-party lineup. With previously announced games such as Scalebound, Fable Legends, and a Phantom Dust remake were later canceled.
However, in this case, “the publisher hopes to give the development team the time it needs to avoid yet another disaster,” writes Kotaku.
With E3 2018 merely a few days away, we’ll see what else Microsoft has up to their sleeves, perhaps a new Halo or Gears Of War 5.
Update: Microsoft has now confirmed Crackdown 3′s delay in a statement given to Windows Central:
“Our fans’ response to the signature antics and explosive gameplay of “Crackdown 3” has been incredible. To ensure we deliver the experience they deserve, “Crackdown 3” will be launching in Feb 2019. We look forward to sharing more on “Crackdown 3” this Sunday during the Xbox E3 2018 briefing.”
Crackdown 3 is being developed by Sumo Digital and Reagent Games for the Xbox One and PC.
