Yesterday, Telltale shocked their fans with the announcement of new seasons for three of their fan-favourite popular titles: The Walking Dead, Batman and, an unexpected one, The Wolf Among Us.
At the time of announcement Telltale, in a press release, detailed that these aforementioned titles will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC/Mac and later on iOS & Android devices. While there’s no such mention of Nintendo Switch in the press release, Telltale hints at a possible launch of the title on Nintendo’s console-meet-handheld device. Telltale – in a press release – stated that apart from the above mentioned platforms “Additional platforms are yet to be announced”.
Now, what could this “Additional platforms” be? I hope they don’t mean NES Classic or SNES Classic by that. But rather they are pointing towards a Switch release later sometime in year of the games launch.
This could be a great and profitably move by Telltale to publish their titles on Nintendo Switch device that’s being selling like hotcakes (it even outsells PS4 in Japan). Considering the ease of making games for Switch, Telltale could possibly release it on the system.
Minecraft: Story Mode – The Complete Adventure (Minecraft Season 1 with all added DLC), is currently the only officially announced title coming to the Switch. Furthermore, talking to GameSpot, Job Stauffer, Head of Creative Communications at Telltale, quoted:
“We haven’t quite announced [Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 for Switch] but we certainly hope to continue things on that platform; we’re big fans. It wouldn’t be unheard if more of our series also made it to Switch; we love the platform. It’s kind of perfect for what we do. All of our games are the same on mobile as they are on consoles. And for a mobile console [like the Switch] it’s pretty awesome”.
We’ve reached out to Telltale for their comment on a possible Switch release and will update back when we hear sometime.
