Dark Light

Continuing from last week’s Indie Sundays, here are 5 Indie games that might be worth checking out:

1. Gunhildr

Doom is one of my favorite games of all time and any game in the same veins is going to excite me. Gunhildr takes on the same gameplay style and drops us in a Norse world and has you blow off enemies with some twists to well known weapons (Rifles, shotguns etc). I tried the demo which is available in the link above, and while it may be rough around the edges, it has potential. The level designs are great and the gameplay is sharp and fluid.

There is no site link currently, so all the details can be found on their IndieDB page.

2. UAYEB

I am not a big fan of survival games to be honest, and I only stick to them for few hours, but what keeps me coming back to survival games are the few highly addictive hours that the game provides me. UAYEB is a survival game made with CryEngine 3 and as a result looks gorgeous. Apart from that there are crafting mechanics (Duh) and elements of platformers. The physics is what has me excited. Proper implementation physics in objects can make the game challenging.

More details about the game can be found here can be found here.

3. Fumiko

Fumiko is a 3-D platformer that is very tough to describe. I can’t really pin point a game similar to it any existing game. All I can say is that it looks good and is probably a puzzle platformer.

All of the information on the game available in on the IndieDB page.

4. Eden Star

Voxel worlds are the next big things in gaming probably with may developers trying to make games based on the concept of fully destructible worlds and I will admit, being a sandbox fanatic, this is something that gets my excitement dialed to 11. There are some videos of it in action, but it still is ways off from release.

More information on the game can be found here.

5. Arkin

Space sims have always been fascinating and with technology moving forward we are getting to see more and more of what space faring might feel like. Such games are still few and far in between- Everspace, Elite Dangerous to name a few. Arkin seems a lot like Everspace and looks pretty nice as well, with some seemingly complex controls.

More details can be found here.

So what do you think about the list? Let us know what you think and which game you are looking forward to in the comments below.
