IO Interactive’s Hitman 3 and Remedy Entertainment’s Control are coming to the Nintendo Switch console via the power of cloud streaming. This is the first time that Nintendo is leveraging this technology in the United States, which has been in use for quite some time back in Japan for games like Resident Evil 7 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In order to play such a game you will require a “persistent high-speed internet connection” and of course, a Nintendo account.
Hitman 3 is the final chapter in the World of Assassination trilogy and will release on January 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia and PC. A release date for the Switch version has not been provided yet. Find out some more details about Agent 47’s next adventure in our article about the IO livestream.
Control: Ultimate Edition, which includes both The Foundation and AWE expansions, is available right now with ray tracing support. With ray tracing enabled the game runs at 30 fps, and with ray tracing disabled in the performance mode you can expect 60 fps. A robust implementation of the cloud streaming technology will enable Nintendo’s hybrid handheld console to run graphics-intensive games that might not have run natively on its low-end hardware.
