Dark Light

Cyberpunk 2077 is the most hyped game of the year. There’s scarcely been a game that has seen the same marketing potential as CD Projekt Red’s hot new upcoming RPG. We have an OnePlus 8T themed after Cyberpunk (even though stocks are very scarce), while CPU case manufacturers are making Cyberpunk mods for their customers. Cosplayers are portraying V and several other characters from Cyberpunk 2077 (which have just been seen in trailers till now). The hype is so good, people are feeling that it might just be too much for the game to bear. Worrying news has been leaked online from a few people who have managed to snatch a review copy.

Cyberpunk 2077 is experiencing quite a few issues.

Feedback from Reddit from a user called r/scorpo187 paints the game in a very bad light. Apparently, framerate drops from 60 fps are more common than they should be. Frequent game crashes have also made the experience way worse than it should have been. The launch version, according to r/scorpo187, also has bugs like ghosting on objects while moving quickly, animations just not working properly, screen flickering a lot, vehicles and NPCs spawning and despawning out of thin air. If that itself isn’t enough, the game also spawns similar NPCs together a multitude of times. The reported issues seem to be on the Xbox Series X, Microsoft’s new premier console, which is cause for worry about its performance. It seems that next-gen systems themselves might be struggling to run Cyberpunk 2077, which might mean that the PlayStation 5 and PC will be struggling as well.

The account posting the update seems to have been deleted but Redditors have got a link to an archived version of the thread for reference. There’s some speculation about the truth of this statement, but there is cause for worry (especially for CD Projekt Red) even if there’s a grain of truth in it. There has to be some justification for the repeated delays and an early day one patch to address these issues before complaints overwhelm the Internet as we know it.
