Ale Abbey, the medieval brewery tycoon sim from developer Hammer & Ravens and publisher Shiro Unlimited, rolls its first bubbly barrels onto PC via Steam Early Access today.
Don the robes of an ambitious Abbot and set to work transforming a sleepy country monastery into a beer brewing powerhouse. Build fresh facilities, hire talented staff, and research recipes for exciting new brews, all while tending to the spiritual needs of the abbey’s monks and local citizenry. Enjoy a tuneful original soundtrack from Return to Monkey Island composer Clint Bajakian.
The path to fermented enlightenment can entail many twists and turns. The abbey will need a library where monks can research tasty new formulas, but hiring a brewmaster or two could save valuable time. Choose between multiple upgrades to improve operations and lead the abbey into craft beer fame and fortune!
Sat in the countryside, grow the fame of the monastery and discover neighboring towns and villages as well as their parched inhabitants. Discover the most popular quaffs in each far-flung tavern and be sure to give back to the community by feeding the poor. Choose to grease the palms of greedy bandits for protection or shmooze high-ranking officials to ensure the monastery’s continued growth and success.
“Beer – as well as the monasteries that produced it – were a key part of medieval society,” said Emiliano Pastorelli, Game Director at Hammer & Ravens. “Making and selling ale was a way for monks to keep their monasteries running, and in the process they developed many of the most popular beer varieties we know today. Ale Abbey provides a fun and peaceful look – or sip shall we say – into the lives of these boozy pioneers.”
Ale Abbey is now available on PC in Early Access via Steam for $14.99/€14.99EUR/£12.79 with a 10% launch discount for 14 days. English, Spanish, French, Chinese, German, Italian, and Russian are the languages supported.
