During Capcom’s Q1 Financial Results Conference Call, the Japanese video game publisher expressed its interest in remaking and/or re-releasing other titles from their star-studded video game catalog.
In a Q&A Summary post, when asked about their expectations about Resident Evil 2’s financial performance and plans about future game re-releases, the company quoted:
“[Resident Evil 2] is one of our major Consumer releases for this fiscal year, and accordingly we expect it to
be in the ‘million-seller’ class of titles. It was received very well at E3, and in order to tie this first success to actual sales we are working out our promotional strategy”
The “million-seller” forecast doesn’t sound lofty enough given its outstanding anticipation and the response it had drawn during E3. The company further added:
“[R]egarding remakes and re-releases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP.”
With Capcom gearing up to release the Resident Evil 2 remake and planning to do more of the same, it’s the perfect time for a Dino Crisis remake or a re-release at least, isn’t it?
