Dark Light

Ken Levine, the creator of Bioshock, has been quietly working away at his next game in his new role at Ghost Story Games, a self-publishing studio owned by Take-Two Interactive. Irrational Game Studios, the famed team behind Bioshock Infinite, was renamed to Ghost Story Games after a company-wide restructuring in 2017. The studio has since grown from a small team of 15, to now around 35 people. They are currently looking for a senior producer, as per a new job listing on T2 Careers which was spotted by Gamespot. Back in 2019, they were looking for a cinematic narrative scripter.

No details are known about the game except that it is a “new immersive sci-fi based FPS with RPG elements”. The listed ad recommends that interested applicants should be aware of their past portfolio like System Shock 2, Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite, along with a suggested viewing of a talk by Ken Levine at GDC 2014. The game in development doesn’t seem to have veered much from its intended roots – we might soon be able to see Ken Levine’s innovative concept of “narrative Legos” in action. Will the game’s emergent narrative be implemented procedurally? Only time will tell! Till then, all we can do is wait and watch.

Take-Two Interactive’s publishing label 2K founded this studio back in 2019, with its two teams at Novato (California) and Montreal (Quebec). This game is still early in development, and we might have to wait a little longer on this one.
