Things are heating up between The Belgium Gaming Commission and Electronic Arts with each passing day. Belgium is on the verge of banning lootboxes in video games and making them illegal, while Electronic Arts remain stubborn and are pushing forward with their exploitative practices. It seems like Belgium has had enough and is initiating criminal proceedings against the publisher.
According to Metro Time, EA has already received a notice from the Belgian Gaming Commission, with the file now being in the hands of the Brussels public prosecutor, who is conducting a criminal investigation into the company and their business model. The Gaming Commission is adamant on wanting EA to be sued. The smartest thing for EA to do right now is to remove all microtransactions and lootboxes for all Belgium copies of their games. Looks like EA is going to have a tough few months ahead, especially with FIFA 19 around the corner.
