Assassin’s Creed is one of the most anticipated games of the year going by general consensus and just like every Ubisoft game in the past few years, PC gamers are skeptical about the port quality. While the quality of the port cannot be determined just yet, Ubisoft has released the system requirements for it which can be seen below:
Minimum Requirements
OS: Windows 7 SP1 or above (64 bit)
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i5-2400s @ 2.5 GHz or AMD FX-6350 @ 3.9 GHz or equivalent
VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD R9 270 (2 GB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0 or better)
SYSTEM RAM: 6GB
Resolution: 720p
Video Preset: Lowest
The requirements aren’t steep at all considering that this is a AAA game. An i5-2400 is a decent processor but modern i3s perform almost on par with this 4+ years old CPU. As for the GPU, the GTX 660 and HD7870 are more than 5 year old entry level GPUs at this point, so any modern entry level card will breeze through the game. As for RAM, 6 GB looks good in a generation that has a standard of 8GB of RAM.
Recommended Requirements
OS: Windows 7 SP1 or above
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7- 3770 @ 3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz
VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD R9 280X (3GB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0 or better)
SYSTEM RAM: 8GB
Resolution: 1080p
Video Preset: High
Considering that the game is made by Ubisoft and the minimum system requirements, I wasn’t surprised to see an i7 but was surprised at the GPUs listed in the section for the recommended requirements. The i7-3770 is still a very good processor but any overclockable i5 from the Haswell (i5-4XXXK) series will run the game just fine. As for the GPUs, well the GTX 760 and R9 280X are pretty old cards, and I think that something like a GTX 950 would be able to run the game just fine on high settings or with some tweaks.
