Dark Light

The fast-paced, top-down, ‘hacktion’ shooter DeadWire is launching on Steam in September 2025.

Indie publisher The CoLab, alongside cult developer Shotgun Anaconda, made the announcement during today’s PC Gaming Show.

This is the third title from Shotgun Anaconda, who previously produced Velocity Noodle and Baby Redemption.

Set in a dystopian, cyberpunk city, DeadWire combines action-packed, top-down gunplay with tactical hacking, as players take on the role of ‘Wire’, an elite hacker who can link tech and humans together through ‘ReWiring’ to create deadly traps, setting off daisy-chains of violence and destruction across the city’s crime-ridden streets.

Rewiring allows players to link together objects such as electrics, explosives, locks and even enemies via their cybernetic implants, allowing users to create multiple actions depending on what’s being chained together. For example, players could link an explosive barrel to a car with a patrolling enemy walking in front of it, then the car to a locked door. Shoot the barrel, which starts the car, runs over the enemy and unlocks the door. And if there happens to be another enemy on the other side of the door? Carnage continues…

DeadWire key features:

  • High-Octane ‘Hacktion’ – Combine unique hacking gameplay with action-heavy, top-down gunplay and power-ups. Take down enemies and reach your goal.
  • Chain Reaction Carnage – Use elite ReWiring hacking skills and link enemy cybernetics to environmental objects; turn the world into a chain-reaction sandbox of carnage and death.
  • Side-objectives & Time Trials – Overcome missions in your own creative way, 100% action or slow and steady; complete side-objectives and beat time trials to collect trophies along the way.
  • Epic Synthwave Soundtrack – Lose yourself in DeadWire’s gritty cyberpunk soundscape of dirty saw bases and hard-hitting 808 drums, evoking a future world of dystopian technology and rebellion.
  • Become the ultimate operator – Take on the city’s criminal underbelly to pay off your debt and unravel a story of deceit and treachery.

DeadWire is currently available to the Wishlist on Steam.
