Dark Light

Tim Sweeney is serious about making Epic Games Store a prominent digital storefront on PC, currently which is reigned upon by Steam since ages.

From having great EGS-exclusive titles and taking a much lesser cut, to giving away new great games every week, EGS is really going all-out trying to dethrone Steam from the front of PC gaming. Although most people still don’t have a great opinion about the store, there’s no denying that the weekly free games are totally worth the $0 getting them costs.

With Celeste and INSIDE currently up for grabs, The End is Nigh and ABZU will be taking over from the next week. And I have to say, both of these are great indie titles.

The End of Nigh is a sprawling adventure platformer with absolutely great minimalistic aesthetics. Due to it’s extreme difficulty, it’s sometimes also called a spiritual successor to Super Meat Boy, which not-too-surprisingly also comes from Edmund McMillen, the developer behind The End of Nigh.

Coming from Giant Squid Studios and 505 Games, ABZU is yet another highly acclaimed indie title which is mainly appreciated for it’s appealing art design and visuals. It’s more of a relaxing experience. The art director has previously also worked on Journey, which kinda explains the similar breathtaking visuals.

Both of these will be free from 5 September for another week: https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/collection/free-game-collection
