Battle royale game The Culling announces in their final dev diary that they are officially stopping development for the game on both the Xbox One and the PC. The servers for the game will stay online for “the forseeable future”, though no future updates for the game would be provided.
The game had made it out of Early Access only two months before, and the announcement is quite shocking to the people who actually invested in the game. The game’s developer, Xaviant, had announced that they had moved over to a new project, though no details on the same had been shared.
The most likely reason for officially stopping support for the game is competition from bigger titles like Epic Games’ Fortnite Battle Royale, and PUBG Corporation’s PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. Despite being one of the first games to bring out the concept of ‘battle royale’, players had wandered off to greener pastures long before they managed to get the game relevant.
