In an interview with German site, Golem.de, Sony President and CEO Shawn Layden was asked questions regarding PS4 Pro games support and about a brand new PlayStation console.

When questioned about whether we would see any game that’s being supported by PS4 Pro but not by base PS4, “That will never happen!” was his prominent answer, according to rough Google translated page.

He was also asked whether or not the Pro is an entry in the smartphone-like hardware evolving business model. “With the Playstation 4 Pro we have for the first time implemented this kind of innovation within the life cycle of a console”, says Layden. “The pro is really only to offer advantages such as 4K resolutions and HMD for players who can and want to use that. But who has a standard PS4 has no real disadvantages” he added.

He also assured that each of every game released so far “will continue to run on the classic PS4 and possibly slightly better on the Pro”. When asked whether we have to rely on a brand new PlayStation 5 for better hardware, Shawn positively replied that “It will probably be some time“.

Well, its a no secret that PS4 is less powerful console considering it was released four years ago. In fact, A Way Out director, Josef Fares even called it a “five year old PC” decribing how difficult it was for his studio to develop the game for PS4.

However, Sony did catch up with new hardware technology with PS4 Pro but their current business strategy wouldn’t allow them to make titles exclusively for Pro. This is probably because they don’t want to overshadow PS4 as it will spark huge disappointment amongst the PlayStation community.
