Dark Light

Even with words like “don’t get your hopes up high” and “take this info with a grain of salt”, a rumor like a Red Dead Redemption remake is bound to get everyone excited! It is definitely still a rumor, and the leak is unverified, but if it’s a fake, it’s a damn good one! A Twitter account with the name GameLeaksRumors has presented the internet with a set of screenshots that scream the existence of a combo called Red Dead Redemption The Outlaws Collection!

The collection, as presented, includes a enhanced next-gen console (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5) version of Red Dead Redemption 2 with ray tracing and faster load times, and a “faithful, expanded remake” of the 2010 original Red Dead Redemption. This remake is listed to have “a new and familiar set of missions and faces”. The Outlaws Collection, as shown on the snip, will also be released for current-gen consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

There is also a release date listed: January 31, 2021. If the listing is accurate, this might be a placeholder. There is no mention of a PC version – but it seems unlikely that Rockstar wouldn’t release it on that platform.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 map had a huge unexplored area which wasn’t used at all in the main story – Blackwater, New Elizabeth and New Austin from the previous game were all there but devoid of any meaningful activities. The only part that was missing from the first game was the Mexican side – Nuevo Paraiso. Gamers have been suspecting for a long time that Rockstar might want to remake this game as it did not release on PC at that time.

Why this can be an elaborate fake, you ask? The screenshot shared by the leaker crops out the URL and the leaker claims that the page has since been taken down, but no cached page has been provided to validate his claim. According to GameRant, the delivery details of New York 10080 zip code, home of the One World Trade Center and an amount mismatch on the Amazon Rewards Visa Card are obvious signs of these screenshots being fake.

But the heart wants what the heart wants. So real or not, nobody can dash my hopes of a return to the life of John Marston! We have been talking about this for quite a long time – remember our article back in June where we discussed the rumoured announcement of the remake/remaster? Would we see a surprise official announcement at The Game Awards on December 12? Tell us your opinion in the comments below!
