Fans of Cellar Door Games‘ acclaimed indie title Rogue Legacy are in luck. 7 years after the original came out in 2013 (to great critical and commercial success), you’ll finally be able to get your hands on the sequel next month, aptly titled Rogue Legacy 2.
The genealogical roguelite (or ‘roguelike’, make up your mind gamers) platformer where you strive to conquer a randomly-generated castle across countless generations of heroes was great fun and kept me coming back for ‘just one more generation’.
As each new playthrough put you in control of a new descendant with their own unique trait – be it colorblindness, vertigo, or being a dwarf – the gameplay remained pretty fresh and compelling for quite some time. The sequel promises to improve and further expand on this mechanic along with brand new metroidvania elements and a ton more content. Plus, the art-style is 2.5D this time around which is a significant visual upgrade over the original.

While the full game is expected to launch sometime in 2021, Rogue Legacy 2 is going to be available to play in early access on Steam and the Epic Games Store on July 23rd.
