Silver Lemur Games announced that Legends of Amberland: The Forgotten Crown, its retro RPG has left Steam Early Access as of August 1, 2019. Legends of Amberland is a classic, retro RPG, just like the ones we all grew up with during the 90s.

The developer Chris Koźmik cheerfully remarked on the full release;

I have been making RPGs like half of my life, yet I never released any. So, this is super exciting for me. Finally, I finished a full-blown RPG and released it. It’s an odd feeling”,

According to Chris, “it’s aimed at all geezers with low reflexes (100% turn-based) and not much time anymore (no grind, fast-paced combat, quick inventory management, fast travel).” Basically for people who played those games back then, in the “good old times”, but don’t have that much time anymore because of kids and other obligations.

The game is trying to be faithful to the feel & spirit of the 90s era without the obscure annoying elements you probably forgot ever existed. It’s inspired by classics like Dungeon Master, Eye of The Beholder 2, Might & Magic 3-5, Crystals of Arborea and the GoldBox series (Champions of Krynn, Dark Queen of Krynn, etc). The game is trying to be faithful to the feel & spirit of the 90s era without the obscure annoying elements you probably forgot even existed. It also introduced some modern mechanics, but only to the extent that’s compatible with the spirit of the golden era of RPGs.

The final version is quite similar to EA version except for finished all quests, NPCs, and items. Also rebalanced if EA proves rebalancing is needed. Some new locations are also added. After release, there will be some minor/additional balancing updates, but always with great care to not break the gameplay. The might be also some interface improvements and other improvements not related to gameplay.
