CES 2018 officially kicks off on January 9, but the action is already well underway in Las Vegas. Earlier today, we announced a sea of new ROG tech, including an awesome 65″ 120Hz monitor and a brand spanking new ROG GL12 gaming desktop. But there’s one more surprise in store for ROG fans keeping a watchful eye on CES for exciting announcements.

Eagle-eyed viewers tuning into today’s Intel keynote will be afforded a glimpse of a new ROG gaming desktop. It shares the same bold design as the regular ROG GT51CA but dials things up to 11 with an unlocked Core i9 processor that packs a jaw-dropping 18 cores and 36 threads. To put things in perspective, the current GT51 tops out at four cores and eight threads. With two GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards in SLI, it blazes through 4K gaming, hitting over 60 FPS even in demanding games like The Witcher 3.

You can rock a similar GPU setup with the GL51-PBA, because this version ups the CPU’s PCIe payload from 16 to 44 lanes. With all the bandwidth you need for NVMe SSDs as well as multiple graphics cards in SLI, the stage is set for premium gaming experiences that require high-end horsepower, like immersive VR, multi-monitor gaming, and high-refresh displays. Liquid cooling keeps the CPU cool under heavy loads, and there’s dedicated airflow for graphics cards. A large front-intake fan serves as a focal point for the case and draws air into the bottom of the tower to cool the power supply.

We’re not quite ready to reveal everything about the GT51-PBA just yet, but you’ll have a selection of memory and graphics configurations to choose from once it goes on sale later this year. Stay tuned for more information on this beast!
