Deadline reports that Spider-man: Homecoming actor, Tom Holland, is starring as our beloved treasure hunter Nathan Drake in a movie adaption of the Uncharted game.
The movie is being directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the museum) and will be redrafted as a prequel to the action-adventure storyline as seen in games developed by Naughty Dog, reports Deadline. The inspiration behind a prequel comes from a flashback sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception showing a younger Nathan Drake, and his first meeting with his buddy, Victor “Sully” Sullivan.
Sources told to Deadline that the idea of reconfiguration of the script and casting Tom, comes from Sony Pictures’ chief Tom Rothman after watching the latest cut of the Spider-Man: Homecoming film.
Sony first announced about the movie way back in 2009, with pre-production work on it having started in 2008, though the movie remains in development hell for a good while now. Then on, multiple names have been attached to the project, including Ted movie actor, Mark Wahlberg and American Hustle’s director David O. Russell.
Uncharted movie is being produced by Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner and Ari Arad. However, its still not known when it will be releasing in theaters, though it’s not gonna happen anytime soon.
