Dark Light

Personally Prey is one of my most anticipated games of 2017, but I stioll am holding my breath after what happened to Dishonored 2 on PC. In the mean while Bethesda has released the official system requiremenst of the game. Have a look for yourself.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Intel CPU: Core i5-2400 3.1GHz.
  • AMD CPU: FX-8320.
  • Nvidia Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 670.
  • AMD Graphics Card: Radeon HD 7870.
  • VRAM: 2 GB.
  • RAM: 8 GB.
  • OS: Win 7 64.
  • Direct X: DX 11.
  • HDD Space: 55 GB.

Having a look at the minimum requirements, it prtty much looks the same as most games this gen- an i5/FX-8320, 50 GB HDD, 8 GB RAM and 2 GB VRAM etc etc. The surprising factor here is that they are suggesting a GTX 670 rather than a GTX 660 which has been a standard this gen, whereas on the AMD side the HD 7870 is good as ever. This might indicate the game not being properly optimized for the green side or that the gimping that Nvidia is doing to their older GPUs with bad drivers is starting to show more clearly now. As for lower system requirements, I would say that a newer dual core like the i3-6100 might be able to handle the game and you might even get away with 6 GBs of RAM. For the GPU, if you are running at 900p or 720p, the game should run on practically any GPU that has a DDR5 memory and supports DX11.

Maximum Requirements:

  • Intel CPU: Core i7-3770 4-Core 3.4GHz.
  • AMD CPU: FX-8350.
  • Nvidia Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 970 4GB.
  • AMD Graphics Card: Radeon R9 290.
  • VRAM: 4 GB.
  • RAM: 8 GB.
  • OS: Win 7 64.
  • Direct X: DX 11.
  • HDD Space: 55 GB.

Again, just like the minimum requirements, these requirements have become standard in today’s games. An i7, a GTX 970/R9 290, 4 GB VRAM etc. If you have anything like a GTX 1060 or RX 480, then you’ll be fine. For the CPU, I am thinking any modern i5 like the 6500 should do just fine.

Misc:

It seems that unlike Dishonored 2, Prey doesn’t have any of Nvidia’s proprietary software Gameworks or at least they haven’t been announced it. Bit if they aren’t a part of the game, it is good in my opinion, because they are huge performance hogs for too little graphical improvement. Games with Gameworks have also been almost broken occasionally which include- Arkham Knight, Dishonored 2 (To quite an extent) and Assassin’s Creed. If this is the case, then this is a good sign for PC gamers, especially the AMD user.

So what do you think about the system requirements? Let us know in the comments below.
