Owlcat Games unveils new features and more content funded by backers for its upcoming CRPG
Russian based studio Owlcat Games announced today that their current Kickstarter campaign for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous has reached $1,000,000 after only eight days. Backers of the CRPG, based on Paizo’s famous tabletop RPG and the adventure path of the same name; helped the team achieve its initial $300k goal in 15 hours. Today Owlcat Games is happy to share that the current fundraiser already surpasses the amount that was reached for their previous title, Pathfinder Kingmaker, in 2017. The backers’ support will enable the new features and content to appear in the game. Fans will have the opportunity to add even more by contributing to the campaign before it ends on March 11.
Turn-based mode will be released with Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, which has been one the most demanded features requested by the community. Although the game is designed and balanced with RTWP (real-time with pause), the team will develop a turn-based mode to reinforce the tabletop immersion and give players the option to experience a play session almost identical to the tabletop version. They will be able to switch modes back and forth on the fly, without the need for reloading location. More info on the turn-based mode will be revealed later.
“We want to thank the mod community for all the work they did with Pathfinder: Kingmaker. We took inspiration from Hsunyu’s modification, which added a turn-based mode to the game. The players liked it so much that with the launch of the Kickstarter campaign, we have received a large number of messages from the community eager to play Wrath of the Righteous with TBM. In fact, we have been working on it for quite some time, and the plan was to announce it later once a demo was going to be playable. But with all the enthusiasm in the community, we decided to share it now. Our focus remains the same, the new game is designed to be played in real-time with pause, but if you want to go turn-based, you will have such an option.” says Oleg Shpilchevskiy, Head of Studio
To date, backers have unlocked nine stretch goals, corresponding to new features and content all scheduled to be available at launch in June 2021. Among them, players will be pleased to find two new Mythic Paths (Swarm-That-Walks & Gold Dragon), increasing the story branches options and abilities that influence the game world. With evolving animal companions, Owlcat games is also bringing in a full-scale progression system, unlocking several levels of customization and two armor sets for players’ animal companions. The players will be able to name their pet companions, level them up, choose feats and equip them with gear. Furthermore a brand new companion, named Woljif Jefto—a “thiefling”, a gang of thieves’ member, will join players’ crusade. Another brand new feature unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign is Mounted Combat. Players will have the ability to mount a variety of creatures from the Pathfinder universe and ride them into battle. Finally, dismemberment, two new classes (Warpriest and Skald), select soundtrack performed by a Symphony Orchestra and a new race to be chosen by the backers at the end of the Kickstarter campaign wraps up the entire list of content unlocked so far.
In addition to the newly added features listed above, the Kickstarter campaign will continue to offer its patrons new stretch goals, that will be announced until March 11 on the Kickstarter campaign page. Other stretch goals to be potentially obtainable include the introduction of Doubled Reactivity (People of Golarion will react to your character and comment on your choices twice as often as in Pathfinder: Kingmaker).
Owlcat Games expresses great thanks and gratitude to all the backers of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Additional details regarding Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous‘ Mythic Paths, new features, and crowdfunding goals can be found at the game’s Kickstarter page. The campaign will run until March 11.
