Blizzard is excited to celebrate the upcoming one-year anniversary with their latest seasonal event, the Overwatch Anniversary event. The event starts on 23rd May. In order to prepare players for the event, the Overwatch team at Blizzard has released a “Year in Review” trailer, which can be seen below :
In addition to the Overwatch Anniversary event, Blizzard will be holding another Overwatch free weekend from 26th May to 29th May. Players will have access to the full roster of heroes,maps and play modes that Overwatch has to offer, including Quick Play, Custom Games, as well as the latest Weekly Brawl. Players will also be able to level up, earn loot boxes, and unlock a variety of different customization options for the heroes. Any player who purchases the game after the free weekend will retain the progress made during the free weekend.
On 23rd May, Blizzard will be releasing the digital version of the Overwatch Game of the Year edition, for PC, Xbox One and PS4. The game comes with a number of goodies for other Blizzard games, including :
- 10 bonus Overwatch loot boxes : 10 extra loot boxes for the game of Overwatch will be granted, to help players fill their wildest fantasies of hero customization in game, ranging from skins, emotes, victory poses, voice lines, sprays and highlight intros, as well as credits which can be used to unlock other customization options.
- Exclusive Overwatch hero skins : Pay homage to the original Overwatch strike force by wearing the Blackwatch Reyes and Strike-Commander Morrison skins. Explore other heroes’ origins with the Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Pharah, and even Slipstream Tracer skins.
- Tracer hero for Heroes of the Storm : Jump into the Nexus in the boots of Tracer, and surprise your enemies with the blink of an eye.
- Diablo III Mercy’s wings : Slay demonic forces throughout the High Heavens and the Burning Hells as you don Mercy’s wings. Make your allegiance to Overwatch known to all of Sanctuary!
- StarCraft II in-game portraits : Don the images of Tracer, Reaper, Pharah, Winston, Bastion, and Soldier:76 as your hero portraits, and you’re sure to become a champion of the Koprulu Sector.
- Hearthstone in-game card back : Battle out opponents in the card game and conquer all with an all new Overwatch themed card back.
