Rainbow Six is entering the last operation for year 3. Operation Wind Bastion takes the renowned group to Morocco. Two operators from the GIGR (Groupe d’Intervention de La Gendarmerie Royale), namely Kaid and Nomad will be coming to the game. The game will also be receiving a new map called Fortress.
Kaid’s “Rtila” Electroclaw can electrify reinforced walls and hatches, barbed wire, and deployable shields, making it tougher for the enemy to breach through. Any unsuspecting breacher will be in for a rude shock (literally speaking). Nomad’s Airjab Launcher act as mobile disorienting grenades, which detonate when in range of the enemy.
The game will be getting special Wind Bastion weapon skins, as well as Pro League charms and skins that will be purchasable from the Shop with R6 credits. 30% of the sales go directly to the organizations which are part of the program, and a significant amount also boosts the Rainbow Six Invitational prize pool.
Following Wind Bastion, certain fundamental operator changes will take place. Zofia’s grenade launcher will now have 2 projectiles instead of 3, forcing players to use them wisely. Mute and Smoke receive a buff to their SMG-11 damage, making them more lethal in combat. Lesion’s T-5 SMG receives a slight damage reduction to make him a versatile yet balanced operator of choice. The biggest change possibly comes to Clash, whose Electric Damage has been increased. Nomad acts as a counter for Clash, so boosting the damage from the ‘impenetrable’ Shield only makes sense.
A number of bug fixes have also been deployed, which fixes the crashing issue on consoles. A slew of other operator-specific fixes have made their way into the game too. The game also deploys a new way for throwables to be deployed, which shows their trajectory to the operator who deployed it. An Area of Effect feature also shows operators the range for their current gadget (if any). An improved Ambient Occlusion technique, SSBC, officially makes its way into the game’s graphics settings, besides SSAO and HBAO+.
With all the bug fixes, operator changes, and additions to the game, Rainbow Six is fit to enter a new competitive meta.
