Netflix has plans for the second season of Castlevania within the day of its debut. The streaming service giant has announced that there will be a second season for the video game-inspired Castlevania animated show which will span to eight episodes this time.

Netflix recently premiered Castlevania’s season one directed by Sam Deats, penned by veteran comic book writer, Warren Ellis and co-produced by Adi Shankar(who recently announced Assassin’s Creed’s anime adaption). It is based upon Konami’s action-platforming game, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse.

Castlevania tells the story of Vlad Dracula Tepes’ revenge on the cities of Wallachia and an ongoing fight for the people of it by – eventual participant – Tremor Belmont, last son of the House of Belmont and the current wielder of the Vampire Killer Whip, accompanied by Sypha Belnades, a speaker with magical abilities and Alucard, son of Vlad Dracula Tepes.

The animated show’s voice cast features talents like Graham McTavish (The Hobbit, Preacher) as Vlad Dracula Tepes, Richard Armitage (The Hobbit trilogy) as Trevor Belmont, James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) as Alucard, Emily Swallow (Supernatural) as Lisa, Matt Frewer (Orphan Black) as The Bishop, Tony Amendola (Annabelle) as The Elder and Alejandra Reynoso (G.I. Joe: Renegades) as Sypha Belnades.

The reception to the first season is mostly positive by both fans and critics. So, it won’t hurt the video-on-demand service provider to renew it for a second run.

For me, the series was great; its heavily inspired anime style makes it to look brilliant and brutal. The soundtrack (which kinda reminds me of Death Note) and voice acting is also excellent. I really like the way they presented it: a totally-meant-for-adult animated show with bloody, brutal and gore-y killings. They didn’t even try to cut down things to make it a familiy show which in itself is a great move. But it struggles with its slow-paced start and characterization.

Well, tell us what you think about the series in the lonesome comment section below.
