Myths of The Eastern Realm is not just a DLC for the immortals’ fans, it is a gift package wrapped with a katana, improved combat, and a brand new island shaped in Yin and Yan. Released today for the PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch the DLC is available for all season pass owners.
You play as Ku and your people and gods have disappeared. All you know is that this was caused by the ‘Scar’ which created a hole in heaven and earth at the same time. You fight your way across the island finding what remains, including the last two gods – Nuwa and Gong Gong. Ku and these gods are the last hope. The hope of life on earth, the existence of gods, and balance. Will you take up the responsibility?
Apart from the story, playing as Ku is a really refreshing experience. A new fighting style, mostly inspired by martial arts and the more reliability on the air time combat actually puts up an amazing combat experience. Along with basic attacks, godly powers have received a twist, with the addition of godly seals. These seals are powered by your aggression and attacks. As you land more and more combos, these seals charge up and increase your damage, and unleash even more devastating power to your Hammer Attacks (Axe in this case) and Updraft. In short, this game expects us to never put a step back if we actually want to fulfill the core of this game.
The DLC lasts for approximately 8-9 Hours, depends on your exploration and side-activities as well. Unlike A New God DLC, Myths of the Eastern Realm is actually a smaller version of ‘Immortals Fenyx Rising’ but set in different lore and environment. The Story actually stands out pretty well, new armors, new puzzles, new activities for upgrades, and of course breathtaking views together make this worth the amount spent on the Season Pass.
What actually is worth looking at is the enemies. Apart from a couple of new enemies introduced, most of them are pretty much the same, but they have a brand new look. This character design is of course flawlessly done but most importantly perfectly fits with the theme of the game. The nightmare mode can be a bit of a headache at times but actually gives the best challenging experience for players who take their coffee extra dark. Potions are back in the game, along with the option to collect gems, hence be on the lookout for your resources as you’ll be upgrading Ku to his maximum potential.
Lastly, as for our verdict – The game ‘Passes’ our checks and is definitely a worth buy. And as for the score, it stands a solid 9.5/10. We tried our best to find flaws, but we were just blown to even more beautiful places every time we tried exploring the corners of the island. The combat takes a bit of practice and flows but once you’re in there, it becomes one of the best fighting experiences. The puzzles are limited in the main storyline but are actually really interesting to solve. Additionally, there are a ton of puzzles available if you have a taste for them. Hence, we think Myths of The Eastern Realm is a DLC for everyone and could possibly be released as a standalone game as well in the future?
