Indian Gaming Expo was a blast. We had a ton of fun loitering around, which you can check out from our Impressions. We also had loads of Hands-On experience which you can check out here. Apart from getting the reward of getting your hands on the best games though, there were also some other more tangible rewards for the taking. Games The Shop, those lovely little gaming bastards were behind most of it, and the IGX crowd was game for it.
e-Xpress Games (The parent company of Games The Shop) hosted 2 official events at IGX 2015. The first of them involved WWE 2K16. The latest iteration in the wrestling simulation game, brought out the inner wrestler among 100s of gamers. But the 1st prize was taken away by Ayush Bhatia who won ₹ 30,000 plus PlayStation 4. The runners up included Vikas Acharya who won ₹ 10,000 plus PlayStation 4 and Digvijit Kaul who won ₹ 15,000. All of them also received WWE championships belt signed by Daniel Bryan himself. LUCKY BASTARDS!!!
The other competition involved Mortal Kombat X. The fighting game which we thought was the best one out there in our review, once again proved why its the best Mortal Komabt out there providing for hours of nail biting competition. Mortal Kombat X tournament was won by Raghavendran Ravi wherein he took home ₹ 30,000 plus PlayStation 4. Runner up Avinash Sharma earned ₹ 10,000 plus PlayStation 4, while 3rd place winner Kaizad Sheshbaradaran earned ₹ 15,000.
For those of you keeping a tab on the total stash. That’s ₹ 1,10,000 in cash, 4 PlayStation 4 consoles, and 3 WWE Championship belt replicas. Not bad for games which don’t require you to loose your soul to the devil in order to master (I am looking at you LOL and DOTA 2).
Apart from the competitions, there was also a floor setup for Just Dance, where local battles proceeded with chutzpah and brutality. If you weren’t in the competing kind you still got your hands on games like Arkham Knight, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. All in all a nice couple of days to be an Indian gamer.

No, what gets on my nerves is ignorant statements made about fighting games by someone who quite clearly doesn’t play competitively and doesn’t know what it takes to compete at the highest level.
