It has been common for Blizzard expansions and trailers to leak way ahead of when they are actually supposed to be shown to the players. The trailer for Hearthstone’s next expansion has leaked out way before its actual release date on July 12, which was the expected release date for the trailer.
The next expansion, called the Boomsday Project, is focused on science, and tons of mechs. The Boomsday Project is a way for Dr. Boom to vent his anger at other races for disturbing him during his scientific experiments (which involves making bombs, mostly).
The expansion will see the Mech class make a return, with a new mechanic called Magnetic, which makes allows Mechs with the ability to fuse with other Mechs on the field, increasing their Attack, Health and adding to their list of abilities. The expansion will also feature legendary spells, for the first time in Hearthstone.
There are two preorders possible now, as seen from the leak on Reddit:
Pre-purchase The Boomsday Project to receive a 50 card pack bundle, a random Golden Legendary card from The Boomsday Project, and the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back!
PLUS, you can also pre-purchase the new MEGA BUNDLE, which features an 80 card pack bundle, a random Golden Legendary card from The Boomsday Project, the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back, and a new Warlock Hero: MECHA-JARAXXUS!
The Boomsday expansion will be a nostalgic one for players playing since the first expansion, Goblins vs Gnomes, where Dr. Boom was one of the legendaries seeing the most play. There are very few mechs in the Standard format, so it’s likely that more will be introduced in this set.
